Darius the Great expanded the empire and created a centralized administration system with a network of roads and a postal system. Xerxes I is known for his failed invasion of Greece and his construction of the famous Persepolis palace.
The Persian kings were known for their strong military might, advanced administrative system, and cultural contributions such as the development of the Persian language and art. The Persian Empire eventually fell to Alexander the Great in 330 BCE.
